The late Charles Delano was the principal at Gorham High School from 1958 to 1968.

In 1968, Delano, a lieutenant commander, was recalled to active duty in the Navy. Assistant Principal John Hoskin replaced Delano for a few months before Phil Dugas was named principal. Dean Evans, who was one one of Delano’s students before becoming a teacher and coach at Gorham High School, praised Delano. “He was a great administrator,” Evans said.
