Two incumbents are facing two challengers in an election next month for a pair of available seats on Buxton’s Board of Selectmen. But no candidate names for two School Administrative District 6 directors will be on the ballot.

Two veterans – Clifford L. Emery, now chairman of the Board of Selectmen, and Peter E.W. Burns – are running against Mark J. Blier and Julianna J. Poirier in a bid for two available, three-year terms on the board, according to information Town Clerk John Myers released Tuesday.

The two SAD 6 seats, which will expire in June, are those of Jacob Stoddard, who is vice chairman of the board, and Bradley Garand.

Stoddard said he had considered earlier this year a run for selectman. But, Stoddard said Tuesday, he’s now planning to launch a write-in campaign for a third term on the SAD 6 board.

“It’s a big time commitment,” Stoddard said. “I’ve enjoyed my four years.”

Garand did not respond Tuesday to messages seeking comment.

Scott A. Warchol is running unopposed for a two-year term on the Budget Committee, while no one else sought three available seats for three years on the Budget Committee.

Two available Planning Board seats for three years also did not attract any candidatess.

The municipal election, town referendum articles and the SAD 6 budget validation referendum are set for Tuesday, June 14, followed by Buxton’s annual town meeting on Saturday, June 18.

The deadline for filing nomination papers in Buxton was May 2.
