The Town Office, at Mallett Hall, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday 8:30 a.m.-6:30 and closed Friday.

Meetings

The Board of Selectmen will meet this summer on Monday, Aug. 1; Monday Aug. 15; Monday, Aug. 29. All meetings start at 7 p.m. and are held at Mallett Hall in the Dewitt Meeting Room.

Music night July 30

at Fuego Diablo

Fuego Diablo has re-scheduled its July Outdoor Music Night to Saturday, July 30, at 52 Loring Lane in Pownal, weather permitting. Attendees should bring their own seating.

Musicians, singers, storytellers, poets and entertainers of all ages and abilities are invited to take the stage at this acoustic venue. Performers requiring gear should bring their own. The evening will run as a folk circle, with each performer doing one piece per revolution of the circle.

Creative world cuisine, including gluten-free and vegetarian-friendly, will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Music begins at 6:30. There will be a fire going in the evening, and guests are welcome to bring supplies for s’mores (including sticks).

The Pownal Elementary School Library will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-noon, through July 28. A family storytime is at 9:30. All are welcome. For more information, contact Patti Francis at francisp@rsu5.org or 688-4832.

Beans and more

at UMC supper

The North Pownal United Methodist Church will host a bean supper on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 4:30 p.m., with a time of prayer at 4 for anyone interested. The menu includes yellow, kidney and pea beans, potato salad, cole slaw, spaghetti with meat sauce, homemade brown bread and biscuits, in-house made pickled beets and pickles, homemade pies of many kinds, coffee, tea and punch. The cost is $8, $4 for those age 4-12, and free for children under 4.

First Parish Congregational Church, Route 9 in Pownal, will be having church suppers on Aug. 20 and Sept. 17. The menu includes baked beans and spaghetti. Seating is at 5 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $9 and $4 for children 5-12. Children under 5 are free. To reserve tickets call Lois at 688-4433

Food pantry on Wednesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church Food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. Fellowship, coffee and snacks are served before food distribution. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone. Donations are appreciated. The church office number is 688-4938.

Men’s breakfast

resumes in fall

The First Parish Congregational Church of Pownal monthly Men’s Breakfast is in recess for July and August and will resume on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 a.m. The breakfast open to any men who want to come, regardless of affiliation. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m., led by the Rev. Raymond St. Pierre. Sunday School for children and adults begins at 10:30 a.m. St. Pierre’s hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon and Thursdays by appointment only at 688-4938.
