City buses to run on Sunday
The City of South Portland Bus Service will start running on Sundays starting Sept. 11 on routes 21 and 24A.
Route 21 runs between Ferry Village, to downtown Portland through Mill Creek. Route 24A operates between Mill Creek, downtown Portland and the Maine Mall. The Sunday schedule will essentially be the same as Saturday’s.
In addition, minor schedule changes will begin Sept. 11 on all routes operating weekdays. Complete schedules are available on all buses, posted at bus shelters and found on www.southportland.org under the Departments, Bus Service tabs. Telephone information is also available from 5:30 a.m. through 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 6:30 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 767-5556.
?There will be a brief ribbon-cutting event at the Mill Creek Transit Center at 8 a.m. Sept. 11. The public is invited.
Lions Club tag sale
The Cape Elizabeth Lions Club will hold a tag sale on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., at its clubhouse, located in the former Bowery Beach Schoolhouse on Wheeler Road.
Audubon fundraiser weekend
The Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center will host its last full weekend of programs and activities from Saturday, Sept. 3, to Monday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.

In addition, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 6-9 p.m., the b. good burger restaurant in Portland will host a fundraiser for the Audubon center. During those three hours the eatery will donate a portion of its proceeds to the non-profit. Along with great food and great company, live entertainment will be offered by local singer Shanna Underwood. The restaurant is located at 15 Exchange St. Call 747-5355 for more information.
Crime writer talk
The Cape Elizabeth Lions Club will host a talk by Maine-based horror and crime writer Joseph Souza at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The meeting will be held at the former Bowery Beach Schoolhouse on Wheeler Road. See the author’s website at www.josephsouza.net for more information about him and his novels.
Cruise-in car show
The South Portland Parks and Recreation Department will host its fourth annual cruise-in car show on Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 4:30 p.m. until sunset at Bug Light Park. The free show features classic and vintage cars and motorcycles, along with food, a 50/50 raffle and more. Fort Williams history
The Scarborough Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the museum next to the Dunstan Fire Station off Route 1. This month’s presentation will be on the history of Fort Williams as a military installation, as well as its transformation into a publicly owned municipal park. The featured speaker is Jim Rowe. The event is free and open to the public, although donations are welcome.

Crime writer Joseph Souza will give a talk at the Cape Lions Club on Sept. 6.

South Portland Parks and Recreation will host its 4th annual car show at Bug Light Park on Sept. 7.
