With Maine voting on a gun referendum Tuesday, this bus is pictured Friday on the University of Southern Maine campus in Gorham. But, reason for the stop on campus was unclear this week.

A blue bus emblazoned with words “Vocal Majority” and “Voting to stop gun violence” pulled onto the Gorham campus of the University of Southern Maine about 1 p.m. on Nov. 4. But, little else is known. Robert Stein, university spokesman, contacted the Student Life Department on the Gorham campus about the surprise visit. “No one is or was aware of it,” Stein said. “Must have been an impromptu visit.” En route to Gorham, the bus traveled along William Clarke Drive (Route 25) through Westbrook and proceeded to the campus. No one was seen immediately exiting the bus after parking on the campus. According to www.thevocalmajority.com ,”The Vocal Majority is Americans for Responsible Solutions’s grassroots campaign to demand an end to gun violence in 2016.”
