A public hearing on a plan to build a synthetic turf track and playing field at the school is scheduled for Dec. 7 at the school, at 6:30 p.m. Regional School Unit 5 has called a Jan. 10 referendum vote on a 10-year bond to fund part of the project’s cost.

Volunteers from the Freeport Community Improvement Association planted 200 tulip bulbs at Bow Street Park and 200 daffodil bulbs at the Exit 20 and Exit 24 welcome signs on Sunday, Nov. 6. Robert Landry, a member of Boy Scout Troop 45 in Freeport, and his father, Adam, attended a Regional School Unit 5 Board of Directors meeting last Wednesday night at Freeport High School. Robert Landry, a seventh-grader at Freeport Middle School, attended and took notes at the meeting to satisfy a requirement for the Citizenship in the Community merit badge, which is an Eagle Scout required merit badge.
