Blood drive

Walker Memorial Library, 800 Main St., will sponsor a blood drive from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27. “There is a critical need for blood right now, so this is an excellent way to start the new year by helping others,” the library said in an announcement.

Historians to hear Dawson

Jack Dawson will speak when Westbrook Historical Society meets  Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 1:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.

For more than 50 years,  Dawson has been devoted to the advancement of the game of football in Maine. College Hall of Famer and winner of the 2016 Leadership Award from the National Football Foundation, Dawson had a long and varied career at Westbrook High School.

He will share some of his experiences as coach, teacher, guidance counselor and summer sports camp instructor.

Woman’s club to meet

The GFWC Westbrook Woman’s Club will meet on  Tuesday, Feb.7, at 11:30 a.m.  at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St., for a potluck luncheon.

Guests are welcome.

Little League signups

Registration  for the 2017 Little League baseball and softball will be at the Westbrook Little League Complex Clubhouse from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27; 8 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Jan. 28; 5-8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10; 8 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Feb. 11; 5-8 p.m.,  Friday, March 10; and 8 a.m.-noon, Saturday, March 11.

Foster to present button program

The Casco Bay Button Club will meet noon to 2 p.m.
on Tuesday, Jan. 31, in St. Anthony’s Parish Hall on
Brown Street in Westbrook. 

Marilyn Foster will present a program on Jenny Lind vintage buttons.  New members are welcome; so go and enjoy the world of buttons.
