Katherine was born on June 10, 1940 in Medford, Massachusetts, daughter of James P. and Katherine D. McGowan.
Katherine worked for New England Telephone for 30 years, was a lover of animals and, above all else, was a devoted and loving mother to her only child, James M. Miller of Biddeford.
Katherine is survived by her son, James M. Miller of Biddeford, Maine; her brother, James McGowan and wife Roberta of Atkinson, New Hampshire; her nieces, Dr. Stephanie McGowen, Jennifer St. Jean and Elizabeth Busteed; nephew, Joseph McGowan; her cousins, Robert Donovan, Michael Major and Thomas Major. She was predeceased by her brother, William McGowan.
Visiting hours are scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St. Saco, Maine. A funeral service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St. Saco, Maine. Burial will be at noon at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose, Massachusetts.
