
She was born on Sept. 14, 1921, a daughter of Harry York Sr. and Nellie Gagne York in Hillsborough, New Hampshire. She married George R. Howard in 1940.
She worked at Morningstar for 10 years.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, walking and beano at St. Louis Hall. She was a member of the 50+ Club, the Golden Girls and Extension.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, George R. Howard in 1974; her sisters, Alice Mills and Dorothy Howard; and her brother, Harry York.
She is survived by: her daughters, Jean Shorey and husband William of Kennebunkport, and Brenda Gosch and husband Aaron of Wells; her son, Richard “Wayne” Howard and wife Joan of West Kennebunk; her sister, Mary Gerbert of New Hampshire; three grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 6- 8 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Howard Cemetery in West Kennebunk.
