OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The town has approved funds to resurface tennis courts behind Loranger Middle School.
The Town Council Tuesday night approved a bid of nearly $14,000 from Beaverbrook Tennis to resurface the tennis courts.
The company submitted the lowest of four bids to the town.
According to town documents, organizations that had used the services of Beaverbrook Tennis were contacted by town officials and gave the company good reviews.
Work done will include cleaning and filling the cracks, cleaning the tennis court surface with compressed air, painting the courts and installing wind screens along three sides of the fence.
Town Manager Larry Mead said that, though the tennis courts are located behind the school and are used by students, they are used mostly by the general community. Mead said the town has reserved funds to make improvements to the tennis courts at Veterans Memorial Park and those courts are scheduled to be renovated as well.
