LEBANON — Laurence E. “Larry” Torno Sr., 62, of Lower Middle Road, died peacefully at home on Feb. 14, 2015 surrounded by family.

He was born June 17, 1952 in Sanford, son of Charles and Evelyn (Stuart) Torno Jr., and graduated Sanford High School.

Growing up in the family business, he began working at age 15 for Stuart, Torno & Stuart in Lebanon. He’d dreamed of being elected road commissioner for many years, eventually fulfilling his dream serving for 5 years. Larry was a long-time Asst. Fire Chief for the Lebanon Fire Department.

Being an avid outdoorsman, Larry loved hunting with family and friends, snowmobile trips, showing steer at fairs and a good day in the hayfields. He loved the Boston Red Sox and faithfully bought lottery tickets for 30 years, dreaming of hitting it big. He had a big heart and his absence will leave a void in the many lives he touched.

He is survived by: his wife of 42 years, Pamela (Swett) Torno; three sons, Laurence E. Torno Jr. and his wife June, Charles Torno III and his wife Jessica, and Tom Torno and his wife Christie; daughter, Angela Torno all of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Autumn, Brandon, Bobby, Evan, Aiden, Alexis and Addison; two brothers, Jeff Torno and his wife Christine, and Max Torno and his wife Sue; a sister, Patty Harley and her husband Roy; many nieces, nephews and many friends of his children who referred to him as their second dad.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 20 from 3 -5 p.m. immediately followed by a brief service at 5 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick. All are welcome to attend an additional celebration following at the Springvale Social Club in Springvale.
