SACO — You don’t have to go far to see what customers think of NAVA Thai.

Posted on the walls of the Thai restaurant, which is marking its first anniversary, are comments written by customers on different colored pieces of paper.

“Everything was delicious! We’ll be back,” posted one customer. “Best drunken noodles ever,” wrote another.

A customer came in Friday afternoon to the restaurant, which is located on Storer Street, and sat down to look at a take-out menu. Owner Tuna Angsripuang asked her how spicy she liked her food, reviewed the menu with her, and made some recommendations.

Angsripuang said she likes to work with customers who might not have a lot of knowledge about Thai food, or may have food allergies or restrictions, to find the right meal for them.

“I want them to like what they’re eating,” she said.

Angsripuang said she moved to the United States from Thailand about seven years ago, and worked in various Thai restaurants across the country before opening the Saco downtown restaurant.

Angsripuang said what sets her restaurant apart from other Thai restaurants is the authenticity of the food. Curries are flavorful, spicy and “have character,” she said.

Though it took some time to get used to the cold weather, she said she likes Saco. The people are very nice, she said, and people who came into her restaurant for the first time last year have become regular customers.

The menu at NAVA Thai offers Thai curries, noodle dishes, along with appetizers and deserts. The restaurant recently expanded to offer Japanese items, said Angsripuang, to give customers more variety.
