BIDDEFORD — For a period of time on Thursday and Friday, Biddeford City Hall and other nearby buildings lost electricity.
CMP Spokeswoman Gail Rice said Friday evening that the outage was caused by a passing truck that hit some equipment on one of the company poles. The incident caused 374 customers to lose electricity from 8:22 a.m. to 9:08 a.m.. Friday morning, she said.
South Street resident Loretta Turner said her home and about 30 buildings in the downtown area of South and Green streets were without power for a portion of time on Friday morning.
City Councilor Bob Mills, who lives in the affected area, and who represents most if not all of the affected area, said his home was also without power for a portion of both Thursday and Friday.
Code Enforcement Officer Roby Fecteau, in an email on Friday, also said the city hall experienced an outage on Thursday, for about an hour. He also said city hall was without power for an hour on Friday, more than the amount of time noted by Rice.
Rice said the Friday morning outage was the only one of which she was aware.
