A fire department boat rescued two kayakers who overturned in the water this evening off Seapoint Beach in Kittery, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Coast Guard Sector Northern New England Chief Rob Childress said Kittery police requested assistance from the Coast Guard shortly after the incident, which happened about 6 pm.
The Coast Guard dispatched a 25-foot response boat from Portsmouth, N.H., which arrived just as the kayakers were being rescued, said Childress.
