SACO — A New Hampshire developer said Krispy Kreme is interested in potentially opening a store in Saco.
Krispy Kreme serves a number of types of doughnuts including its signature glazed doughnut, as well as iced and hot coffee drinks, bagels, oatmeal and ice cream.
Cort Mendez, president and CEO of NH Glazed, LLC, and a Krispy Kreme franchisee for New Hampshire and Maine, said in a phone interview Wednesday that Saco is being eyed as a location for an upcoming Krispy Kreme shop.
“Saco is absolutely a market that Krispy Kreme is interested in,” he said. “We are hopeful to have further information in late April or early May regarding what the plan is.”
Vernon Rudolph founded Krispy Kreme in 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, after purchasing a secret yeast-raised doughnut recipe from a New Orleans French chef, according to information on the company’s web page. The company has more than 1,200 shops in 30 countries, according to the website.
