BIDDEFORD — In November, GrafTech International and its wholly ownedsubsidiary, Fiber Materials Inc., based in Biddeford, received an Ohio Aerospace Institute Innovation Award for the thermal protection material that was used on the heat shield of NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity rover mission, which successfully landed on the planet in August 2012.
Entries were judged on originality, feasibility, collaboration and impact on society, the environment and the economy.
GrafTech International and three other companies were presented with awards on Nov. 13 during the Ohio Aerospace Institute fourth annual industry forum.
