Alan Floyd Worth, 72, passed away March 11, 2019, at Maine Veterans’ Homes in South Paris, Maine with family by his side.
Alan was born October 18, 1946, to Frederick and Phyllis Worth. He was a Mayflower descendant of Stephen Hopkins.
Alan grew up in Sebasco, Bath, and Freeport, Maine and was a graduate of the
Freeport High School class of 1967.
While a student at Eastern Nazarene College, he was drafted and then enlisted into the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He served from December 1968 to 1969, stationed in Southeast Asia. During that time, he received two purple hearts and fell victim to the effects of Agent Orange.
After Vietnam, Alan married Donna Garland of Freeport. Together, they had three children: Diana, Sherri, and Joshua Worth. The family resided in Toledo, Ohio for many years before returning to Freeport, Maine.
Alan enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, clam digging, riding motorcycles, and woodworking. His love of racing led to a job at Daytona Speedway. Alan had fun entertaining people as a puppeteer at nursing homes and parties.
Later in life, Alan met his wife, Rebecca, and gained three additional children –Reney, Randy, and Rayne – as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alan enjoyed traveling with Becky to escape the Maine winters in their  “home-to-go,” an RV. They traveled throughout the United States before eventually settling in Florida before Becky passed away.
In Florida, Alan worked several years for Daytona Speedway and resided at Briarwood Estates with his wife Delia.
Alan is survived by his children Diana and her husband Dana Murphy of Poland,  Maine; Sherri Worth of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Joshua Worth and Melissa Bryant of Brunswick, Maine; and grandchildren: Kevin, Alexa, Sierra, Brody, and Brooke.
He is also survived by his siblings Frederick Daniel, Jr. and wife Edith Worth of Brunswick, Maine; Robert and wife Shelley Worth of Toledo, Ohio; Elaine and husband Ron Knee of Kingsville, Ohio; Duane Alexander of Palermo, Maine; Ruth and husband Dr. Peter Doane of Bristol, New Hampshire; Scott and wife Stephanie Koehling of Freeport, Maine; and Peter and wife Charlene Koehling of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.
Alan had a very special friendship with his niece Audrey Doane of Virginia. The two of them shared many common interests and loved to talk together about them.
Additionally, Alan is survived by his little buddy Buster, his service dog in Florida, and many other special friends from his time in Florida.
The family extends a heartfelt “thank you” to Reney Crochere, who was instrumental in getting Alan back to Maine for his final months. We also thank Maine Veterans’ Homes of South Paris, Maine for their compassionate care over the past 15 months.
