WELLS — Marshwood rolled to the title at the Atlantic Invitational at Wells on Saturday, but Biddeford, the host Warriors and Kennebunk all put together solid performances on the mat on Saturday.
Marshwood finished with 220.5 team points to take home the title, while Dirigo was second with 139 and Mountain Valley was third with 87.5 points. Wells and Biddeford tied for fourth with 84 points and Kennebunk was sixth in the 12- team field with 77 points.
Biddeford had two wrestlers take home individual titles with Shayne Welch at 195 pounds and Chris Lantagne at 220 pounds. Both wrestlers pinned their opponents in the finals.
Kennebunk’s Alden Shields captured the 106-pound championship. The Rams’ wrestler was a 3-2 winner over Marshwood’s Brandan Sandler in the finals.
Wells’ Cullen Cummings also won an individual crown as he picked up an 8-7 win over Dirigo’s Jon Wainwright to win the 126- pound bracket. Cummings won the Sean Sheehy Award for the outstanding Wells wrestler.
Kennebunk’s Jared Dyer (170) and Pat Saunders (220) and Wells’ Nolan Potter (182) took home second-place finishes at the tournament.
Local third-place finishers were Wells’ Ryan Norton (106) and Sean McCormack-Kuhman (195), Kennebunk’s Cameron Fenderson (126) and Biddeford’s Brian Livermore (145).
Biddeford’s Devin Butler (285) and Billy Donner (152), Wells’ Caden Gibson (113) and Michael Wrigley (160) all took home fourth-place finishes.
Oak Hill’s Danny Buteau, who won the 120-pound title, was named the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler.

The visiting Tigers couldn’t overcome a 3-0 deficit as they fell at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Saturday.
Taylor Turgeon scored the lone goal for the Tigers as she found the back of the net with 8:07 left in the game.
Rebekah Guay stopped 22 shots for Biddeford, which was outshot 25-6 in the loss.
Boys Basketball
Lake Region 80, Old Orchard Beach 45
The visiting Seagulls fell behind early in Saturday night’s game against Lake Region and could never recover.
Lake Region jumped out to an 18-1 lead early in the opening quarter, but OOB would battle back to make it a 41-29 Lakers’ lead at halftime.
The Lakers, who improved to 4-1 with the win, would outscore the Seagulls 21-6 in the third quarter to put the game away.
OOB was led by senior guard Erik Hogan with 12 points, five assists and four steals.
The Seagulls also got 11 points and six rebounds from Sam Custeau and Zach Hirst finished with nine points, five assists and two steals.
Marcus Devoe led Lake Region with 22 points and Jack Lesure finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
