NORTHFIELD, Vt. (AP) — Police say three people have been arrested in connection with a fire in a Northfield home that killed one person and critically injured another.
Police said 32-year-old Howard Hoisington of Montpelier was arrested Wednesday morning outside his home in Berlin. On Tuesday night, 45- year-old Tammy Wilder and 33-year-old Jonathan Zampieri, both of Montpelier, were arrested following a motor vehicle stop in Berlin.
All three were taken to the Chittenden County Correctional Center. They are facing federal charges related to the fire investigation. It wasn’t immediately known if they had lawyers.
Police said they found the body of 22-year-old Brittany Burt after the fire. A medical examiner’s report said she died of smoke inhalation. They said 26-year-old Efren Serrano was hospitalized and he remains in critical condition.
