OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Robert W. McDonald, 88, of Beech Plum Drive, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 10, 2015, at his residence.
He was born in Houlton, March 8, 2015, the son of Verne and Kate Kinney McDonald. Robert attended and graduated from Houlton High School in 1945. He went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
After his service, he went to work for Pratt and Whitney. He worked for Pratt and Whitney in New Haven, Connecticut for 27 years and later retired from there. Robert returned to Maine in 1983 and has lived here since then. He enjoyed fresh water fishing and playing cards. He was a fan of both the Boston Red Sox and Celtics.
He is survived by: a daughter, Carol LaBreck and her husband Wayne of Cape Coral, Florida; a brother, Glenn McDonald of Zephyrhills, Florida; a grandson Brian C. Dupon; a great-granddaughter Olivia Stuart Dupont; and special friends Dale and Beaulah Spencer of Dixmont, Florida.
A spring committal service will be held with military honors at the Merrill Cemetery in Merrill in the spring.
