Brunswick—Susan J. North, age 70, died January 3, 2019 at Mid Coast Hospital. 

She was born Aug 23, 1948 in Fitchburg, MA, a daughter of Richard and Betty Lesure North. She was a graduate of Brunswick High School, class of ’66. She was a majorette in the BJHS band that marched in the Inaugural Parade for JFK.  She attended Bryn Mawr College PA, later earning her degree in Education & Counseling from the University of Southern Maine.  

She was accomplished in American Sign Language and was employed by the Baxter School for the Deaf for over 20 years, retiring in 2008. She loved the challenging students she worked with and praised every milestone they achieved.  Early in life she had worked at MacLean’s Restaurant, Brunswick and Kate’s on the Pier, Old Orchard Beach. 

Early in her adult life she had been a free spirit, enjoying daily ocean swims and embarking  on travel and adventure in Germany, Greece and much the rest of Europe. In recent years she found a peace at home with the love of her life, Pierre Vezina, and appreciated the meditation of knitting and completing crosswords. Mr. Vezina died in 2016.  The couple had enjoyed over 20 years together. 

She was predeceased by her brother, Richard A. North. 

She is survived by her sister Nancy Kenney and her husband Dan of Brunswick;  a step daughter, Julianna Vezina of Durham; an aunt, Doris Anderson of Massachusetts; two cousins, Carolyn Lambert and Donald Anderson both of Massachusetts; three nephews, David Kenney and his wife April of Topsham, Peter Kenney and his wife Shannon of Lewiston, Alan Kenney of Brunswick; several great nephews and niece and many special friends. 

At her request there will be no funeral. A gathering of remembrance may be held at a later date.   Memories and condolences can be shared at www.brackettfuneralhome.com.  Memorial donations may be made to Camp Sunshine,
