May 3, 1946 – September 30, 2018

Brunswick – Dwight Owen Joy was 72 years old when he took his last breath.  He passed away on September 30, 2018 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine after bravely battling leukemia for over four years.

Dwight was born in Addison, Maine on May 3, 1946 to Herman and Cassilda Joy.  He was predeceased by three brothers, Clarence (Doc), Russell and Walter.

He married Judith McHatton and had three daughters, Jennifer, Cynthia and Pam.  He was the proud grandfather of Erika, Kevin, Dominic, Daniel, Jessica, Ruben, Joshua, Sylvia and Sarah Grace.

Dwight faithfully served in the United States Navy for twenty three years and attained many meritorious awards, ribbons and medals, one of which he was most proud was his Navy Career Counselor Award.  This spoke volumes of the man that he was.

He was honored to be a part of the Fraternal Order of Masons.  This was an important part of his life and he also excelled in this and was able to help many people through this organization.

During his time on this earth, Dwight had a huge impact on many lives.  He was a great teacher, leader and very wise.  He loved people and he loved his dogs.  He was caring, warm and funny.  He loved to laugh, tell stories, playing rummy, listening to music, and just enjoyed being with others.  He will be sorely missed.

Please join the family at 11AM this Saturday, October 6th at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick for his memorial service.  Condolences can be expressed to the family by visiting www.brackettfuneralhome.com
