BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick boys high school soccer team improved to 5-1 after a 6-0 win against Oxford Hills on Thursday in a Kennebec Valley Conference matchup.
The Dragons scored just five minutes in when JD Souza assisted Keenan Welzel, who also scored his second goal off a cross by Carlyle Boyle for a 2-0 Dragons lead.
Welzel found Souza for a third first-half goal for Brunswick, and Welzel completed his hat trick on a 2-on- 1 break with Souza for a 4-0 edge.
Three minutes later Luke Estabrook played a nice ball across the box for a Souza goal. The Dragons completed the scoring with 12 minutes left when Jacob Towle’s pass bounded off the Oxford Hills goaltender to Finn Woodruff.
Henry Doherty played well for the Dragons, while Josh Dorr and Owen Rudalevige combined for six saves.

Jake Beauchesne made 12 saves in the Vikings cage.
Brunswick is slated to face undefeated Lewiston at home on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
BELFAST 2 MORSE 5
The Shipbuilders broke into the win column with a KVAC Class B victory over Belfast on McMann Field in Bath.
Didane McMurrin scored the first two goals off assists from Declan Hall midway through the first half. McMurrin completed the hat trick on penalty kick with 14:16 left until intermission.
In the second half, Tyler Young converted a PK for a 4-0 Shipbuilders lead.
Belfast struck for a pair of goals to close to 4-2.
“Belfast was trying to come, and I put some of my starters back in to regain our form,” said Morse coach Chuck Reece.
Jake Reno finished off the scoring with six seconds remaining, with an assist going to McMurrin.
Alex Fernald had five saves for the Shipbuilders, who improved to 1-3 and host Spruce Mountain on Saturday at 10 a.m.
SKOWHEGAN 0 MT. ARARAT 1
The host Eagles ended a two-game losing skid with a KVAC win over the Indians at Topsham.
Travis Nadeau netted the game’s only goal with 16 minutes left in the second frame.
Elliot Bowie had two saves in the Mt. Ararat (3-2-1) cage, while Hayden Libby and Jimmy Pelletier played well.
Skowhegan netminder Gavin Patton turned aside 12 shots.
Mt. Ararat hosts Oxford Hills on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
