BATH — The Morse High School jayvee baseball team finished its season with an 11- 3 record.

The Shipbuilders fell at Belfast May 27, 6-5, on a walkoff single.

Jacob Cressey pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two earned runs, striking out two and walking one. Trevor Drouin pitched 1.2 innings, giving up no earned runs and striking out one.

Tristan Kiffer broke up a perfect game bid by the Belfast pitcher in the fourth inning with a bunt for a hit, then stole two bases on his way to scoring the first run for Morse.

Josh McDougal also had a stolen base and scored a run, while Matt Fontanez had a double, two RBIs and a stolen base. Dylan Severt had a hit and two RBIs. Josh McDougal was a defensive standout behind the plate.

Morse also traveled to Nokomis last week and won, 12-7.

Dakota Jacobs pitched four innings, striking out nine and walking four. Ricky Warren closed the game out, striking out four and walking one.

Kiffer went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs scored. McDougal stole two bases and scored two runs. Jacobs doubled and two runs scored, which extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

Fontanez was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Brendan Harper had a double, and Trevor Drouin a hit and run scored. Casey Bennoch, Ayden Brillard, and Nick Doughty were solid defensively in the outfield.

Morse wrapped up its season Thursday with a 4-3 win over previously unbeaten Camden Hills at home.

Cressey pitched five innings, giving up three runs in the first before settling in and shutting down the potent Camden offense the rest of the way. He walked one and scattered six hits, never allowing a runner to reach scoring position after the first frame.

Jacobs came in to close out the game, striking out one and allowing no hits.

Fontanez had a double and a run, Harper was 2-for-3 with a double, stolen base and a run, Trevor Drouin had a sacrifice fly, and Tyler Young a double and a run.

McDougal scored the goahead run in the sixth on a wild pitch, and Jacobs extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a single.
