WISCASSET — The Wiscasset Babe Ruth baseball team opened its 2013 season with a doubleheader sweep at Bristol on Sunday.
In the first game, Daren Wood pitched a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts in a 3-0 win. Wood and Andy Hutchins each had two hits in the victory.
In the second game, Tyler Bailey pitched a complete game, shutting out Bristol, 6-0 with 10 strikeouts and three hits allowed.
Offensively, Grant Hefler led Wiscasset with four hits, Daren Wood had a double and single, and Tyler Flavin, Andy Hutchins, Tyler Bailey and Cody Roberts each had one hit.
Greg Anderson, Spencer Weiss and Chad Cowen each had one hit apiece for Bristol.
Wiscasset’s next game will be June 9 at 1 p.m. at Rockport’s Margie Jones Recreational Field.
