BATH — In a well-fought Coastal Babe Ruth game, Cahill’s Tire eked out a 7-6 baseball victory over Midcoast Insurance.
A rocky start by Cahill’s Tire allowed Midcoast Insurance to score four runs in the first inning.
Midcoast Insurance was led by Matt Belanger and Nick Doughty with two hits apiece, while Ricky Warren pitched six-plus strong innings, but didn’t factor in the decision.
Cahill’s Tire slowly battled back to take the lead, only to lose it in the top of the seventh with some strong pitching by Casey Bennoch and Dakota Jacobs.
Tristan Kiffer, Chase Smith and Spencer Lindsley each had two hits for Cahill’s, but it was a well-executed safety squeeze by Connor Bennoch to tie the game and then a mishandled ball that led to the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
