SOUTH PARIS — The Mt. Ararat Middle School eighthgrade softball team toppled Oxford Hills, 8-3 in recent play.
Mt. Ararat pitcher Rhiannon Hersey went 5.2 innings with a strikeout and three walks, and Alana Weaver twirled 1.1 innings with a strikeout.
Oxford Hills pitcher Cora Hooker had six strikeouts and eight walks.
Mikaila Cloutier was 4-for-4 with a triple and a double, while Olivia Merryman smacked two doubles and Katelyn Cox two singles.
Kate Guerin, Rhiannon Hersey, Sam Gonyea, Kieley Hetherington and Gabrielle Turner each had a single.
Oxford Hills’ Krystin Paine led the Vikings with a triple.
Mt. Ararat scored four runs in the third inning when Merryman doubled, Guerin and Hersey singled, Cloutier tripled and Cox singled.
In the top of the seventh, Mt. Ararat scored four more runs when Cloutier led off with a double, Weaver walked, Gonyea singled in two runs, Kristen Graffam walked and Hetherington lifted a sacrifice fly to score Graffam.
