RICHMOND

Richmond sprinted out to a 23-10 first-quarter lead and never looked back in earning a 79-40 non-conference win over Islesboro on Friday in boys high school basketball action.

The Bobcats held a halftime edge of 44-21 and continued to pull away in the third quarter, extending out to a 68-33 advantage.

Zach Small led Richmond with 26 points, while Cody Tribbet added 15 points, Matt Rines 12 and Matt Holt nine. Rines and Brendan Emmons each dished out five assists, and the Bobcats were 14-of-23 at the free-throw line.

John Bareford-Runnion paced Islesboro (9-7) with 16 points.

The Bobcats improved to 15-1 with a home win over AR Gould on Saturday.

Richmond took control in the second and third quarters, holding a 33-16 scoring edge for a 47-29 advantage.

Small had a game-high 31 points, while Tribbet added 20 and Holt had 11. Rines picked up nine assists and Small had seven rebounds.

Tyrese Collins paced AR Gould (13-3) with 23 points, while Gage Barton picked up 18.

The host Panthers stayed unbeaten with a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over the Shipbuilders on Friday.

Medomak Valley (16-0) led 13-9, 38-23 and 66-29 at the quarter breaks and were paced by Kyle Donlin with 16 points, Brent Stewart and Cameron Allaire with 15 apiece, and Zidane McMurrin with 10 points and six rebounds.

Parker Onorato had a game-high 18 points for Morse (3-13), which hosts Waterville on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

RICHMOND — Sydney Underhill-Tilton had a double-double to pace Richmond to a 55-31 Class C South victory over Hebron Academy on Friday.

The Bobcats are 17-0 and slated to host Valley in their season-finale on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Lumberjacks fell to 9- 6.

Underhill-Tilton scored 29 points and pulled down 17 boards in the win, while Meranda Martin chipped in 11 points and Mackenzie Abbott nine points, five rebounds and three assists.

Francesca Halborn had 11 points for Hebron, with Maddie Nau adding 10 points.

In a battle of solid Western Maine Conference squads, the host Warriors came out on top on Friday.

Wells jumped out to a 14-7 first-quarter lead, but the Falcons (11-5) battled back to close to 24-23 by halftime.

But, the Warriors (11-5) out-scored Freeport, 17-10, in the third-quarter for an eight-point lead and held off several Falcon pushes in the fourth.

Natalie Thurber scored 19 of her game-high 27 points in the second half for Wells, which also received nine points from Megan Schneider.

Taylor Rinaldi led Freeport with 19 points, followed by Johanna Bogue-Marlowe with 11 points.

The Falcons host Gray- New Gloucester on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Girls hockey

YARMOUTH —Katie Clemmer scored a hat trick and Caroline Grant picked up two goals as Yarmouth/Freeport/Gray- New Gloucester closed its regular season with an 8-2 win over Winslow/Gardiner on Saturday at Travis Roy Arena.

The victory puts the Clippers into the postseason. The No. 6-seeded squad appears to be headed for Auburn’s Norway Savings Bank to face third-seeded Edward Little/ Leavitt/Poland in a North quarterfinal this week.

Isabelle King turned aside 12 shots for the Clippers, who scored four goals in the second period to take control.

Winslow/ Gardiner keeper Kassie Demersz had 26 saves in the loss.

The host Rangers scored six second-period goals in picking up a win over Brunswick in season-finale action at Falmouth Family Ice Center on Saturday.

The 8-10 Dragons, who received two goals from Jenna Brooks, appear to be the No. 5 seed and will visit No. 4 Winslow/Gardiner this week in a quarterfinal, date and time to be announced.

Courtney Sullivan had three goals and three assists for Greely (16-2), while Emilee McGillicuddy added two goals and an assist, and a Victoria Lattanzi two goals.
