HARPSWELL — Phillip Henry Bibber, 78 years old, of Harpswell, died January 26, 2013 at Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick, Maine after a short illness.

He was born in Brunswick, Maine on April 8, 1934 to Linwood and Ruth Bibber and attended Harpswell schools until he enlisted in the military at age seventeen.

Phillip very proudly served his country in the United States Navy for twenty-two years. He is a Korean and Vietnam War veteran. After retiring from the navy, he worked for the Harpswell Neck Fuel Depot for seventeen years.

He married Carol Morrell, his wife of fifty-six years, in 1956.

Phillip was an antique auto enthusiast and enjoyed attending car shows and showing his antique cars as well as acting chauffeur to dignitaries in the Harpswell Annual Memorial Day Parade.

He is predeceased by his brother Richard (Dick) Bibber.

He is survived by his wife Carol (Morrell) Bibber of Harpswell, Son Gerald Bibber of Harpswell, daughter Carolyn Costello and her husband Tony Costello of Lisbon, daughter Susan Taylor and husband Don Taylor of Richmond, son James Bibber of Harpswell, as well as five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

Visiting hours will be held from 5-7PM on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME. A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Friday February 1, 2013 at the funeral home with Reverend James Henry officiating.
