ROCKLAND — The Brunswick High School girls jayvee Orange basketball squad hit the road recently and faced off against a tall Oceanside team.
For the first time this season, Brunswick’s front court was matched in height by the sizable Mariners.
The Dragons responded by pressuring the Mariners all overt the court as they earned a 51-37 win.
Anna Kousky, Emily LaRochelle, Izzy Banks and Alexis Guptill combined to hound the Oceanside guards throughout the game. Kousky scored 10 points and accounted for seven steals. Rosalie White led all scorers with 12 points, while LaRochelle contributed with 10. Grace Clendening and Holly Black anchored the back end of Brunswick’s defense.
The Dragons led after the first quarter, 13-11. Brunswick extended its lead to 29-22 at halftime and maintained the advantage in the second half with a 22-15 scoreline.
