BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Junior High School eighth-grade girls basketball team was edged by Oxford Hills, 35-32, in recent action.
The Huskies trailed by 12 points in the fourth quarter, but fought back behind a solid team defensive effort, led by Elena Palmer and Alysa Wyman, with help from Emma Banks.
Leading the offensive attack for Brunswick was Riley Turgeron with 10 points, and Hannah Fortier and Emily Cloutier with seven points apiece.
Brunswick trailed 13-7, 20- 11 and 29-19 at the quarter breaks in falling to 2-4 on the season.
In other action, the Huskies fell to Lewiston, 40- 32, trailing 10-6, 23-20 and 35- 24 at the quarter breaks.
Fortier had a team-high 10 points, with Chloe Coombs and Alex Bunker splitting 16 points down the middle. Ella Perham and Wyman spearheaded the defense.
