Morse cops first win
TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat High School field hockey team exacted a measure of revenge Tuesday with a 4-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Lewiston.
The 8-4 Blue Devils had beaten the 7-4 Eagles 2-0 earlier in the season.
Mt. Ararat led in shots 14-3 and penalty corners 11-5. Goaltender Taylor Pare made three saves, while Lewiston’s Emma Burgess came away with nine stops.
Carly Raymond scored from Charlotte Crosby with 10:27 left in the first half for a 1-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, Crosby (Raymond) scored at 1:26, Caitlin LaFountain converted a Raymond feed with 14:39 left, and Raymond scored from LaFountain with 6:42 remaining.
The Eagles are scheduled to host Edward Little on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
In Western Maine Conference play, Old Orchard Beach beat the Falcons in overtime.
OOB’s MacKenzie Rague scored at 12:34 in the first half and Freeport’s Abby Smith answered off an assist from Emily Sturtevant at 22:11 of the first half.
The second half was scoreless, and Rague scored with 6:30 left in the first overtime to spark the Seagulls (3-9).
Colleen Dyer had 17 saves for OOB.
Freeport dipped to 5-6-1 and visits Yarmouth on Thursday.

Abby Moore beat the Lincoln Academy (0-13) goaltender on a breakaway as the host Shipbuilders broke into the win column (1-10) on Senior Day at Bath.
Morse seniors Ari Malcolm, Aysia McCloud, Tasha Jacobs, Moore, Hannah Rossetti and Kelsey Brick played their final home game for the Shipbuilders, with Morse slated to visit Mt. Blue today.
Morse finished with 13 shots on goal.

Grace Rabinowitz put home two goals for the 2-7-3 Dragons, but Arika Brochu’s third goal of the game with 28 seconds remaining in regulation allowed the Rams (3-6-3) to come away with a KVAC tie.
Trailing 2-1, Rabinowitz scored her goals in the final five minutes to forge a 3-2 Brunswick advantage.
Hannah Bobker had Brunswick’s other goal. In net, Sydney Escoe had nine saves for the Dragons, who host undefeated Skowhegan today at 3:30 p.m.
Cony netminder Kevie Rodrigue had 18 stops, while teammate Abby Naborowsky picked up an assist on the tying goal.
