BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College lacrosse teams are both ranked in the Division III preseason polls released by Lacrosse Magazine on Thursday.
The Polar Bear women are ranked 11th in their ranking, while the Polar Bear men stand 19th.
The Bowdoin men will look to build on a sensational 2012 campaign under first-year head coach Jason Archbell this spring. The Polar Bears finished as the NESCAC runners up and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before finishing the year with a 14-6 record.
The Polar Bears are one of four NESCAC teams in the poll, which includes Connecticut
College at No. 14. Bowdoin will open its season at home against the Camels on March 9 at Ryan Field.
Just one year removed from playing in the NCAA Division III championship game, the Bowdoin women fell victim to the toughest conference in the nation in 2012, finishing the year with a 10-6 record and a first-round exit in the NESCAC Tournament.
The NESCAC boasts of seven teams in the top-20 of the poll, including six of the top 11 squads.
The Polar Bear women will open their year at Connecticut College on March 9.
