SACO (AP) — A grand jury has added a felony motor vehicle charge to six other charges a Saco man faces for allegedly leaving the scene after striking an elderly woman out walking her dog.
The victim, 87-year-old Jewell Friedman of Saco, died in in the hospital in July, several weeks after she was struck by a pickup truck.
The Portland Press Herald reports that the new charge against Leo Paul Bedard III is operating a motor vehicle with a revoked or suspended license resulting in death.
The 45-year-old Bedard has already pleaded not guilty to six charges connected to the June 21 hitand run.
Bedard has been held on $25,000 cash bail since his arrest. An arraignment date on the new indictment has not been scheduled.
