BRUNSWICK — Claire L. Stockford, 97, of the Durham Road, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at her home.

She was born in Brunswick on Nov. 24, 1916, the daughter of Philoclese and Mathilda Dumais Lacharite. She graduated from St. John’s School and attended Brunswick High School. She married Charles C. Stockford Sr. in Brunswick on Sept. 27, 1941. Mr. Stockford died on June 26, 1989.

Mrs. Stockford worked at area shoe shops in her early years and later after her children had grown.

She was a member of St. John’s Church of All Saints Parish and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was predeceased by five brothers, Aime, Albert, Bertrand, Henry and Lucien Lacharite, and a sister, Rita Merritts.

She is survived by four sons, Charles C. Stockford Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK, Wayne R. Stockford and Clifford D. Stockford, both of Brunswick, and Donald D. Stockford of Alexandria, VA.; a daughter, Judith A. Thibeault of Bowdoinham; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday at St. John’s Church, Pleasant Street, Brunswick. Interment will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.

The family wishes to thank their brother Wayne for all of the loving care that he provided for Mom in her last years. He has truly made himself a place in heaven.
