I invite my friends and neighbors in Topsham to join me in enthusiastically supporting and voting for Denise Tepler to represent us in the Maine House of Representatives.

In the 15 years I have known her, she has amply demonstrated her commitment to and experience in serving our community. Having served 2 terms as Topsham’s representative on the SAD 75 School Board, and seeing her three lovely daughters K-12 in our schools, she understands the need for state support of our public educational system.

Serving two terms as chairperson and vice chairperson of the town Finance Committee she has struggled with balancing our budget, and keeping our tax rate affordable for all of us — She certainly understands the need to a) reinstate the state’s share for education and b) the revenue sharing program. She feels the dilemma of either letting our quality education slip, because we can’t pay for competent teachers or raising the property taxes to make up for the loss of revenue sharing.

Having worked very hard in the last 30 years to preserve farm land and support local farmers, I particularly appreciate her full hearted support of local food and farmers. Working the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust Booth at the Crystal Springs Farmer’s market, I have seen Denise lugging home local chicken, turkey and all those greens so good for us. AND I still have on my cupboard recipes she has shared with us in the Cryer. Won’t you join me in thanking Denise for all that she has done for our community and VOTE for her on November 4.
