Cindy loved to work with developmentally disabled men and women. She helped open one of the first women’s group home in Richmond, Maine, in the late 1980s. She worked in this field for over a decade.
Throughout her life Cindy enjoyed being a cheerleading coach. She enjoyed going to basketball games watching Christa play. She enjoyed going for rides to the beach. She especially enjoyed being at Popham Beach spending time with her grandchildren and being with her family.
Cindy was predeceased by her mother and father.
Cindy is survived by her two daughters, Christa Gallagher of Brunswick and Missy Leeman and her fiancé Cong Van Nguyen of South Casco; two sisters, Vicki Harrington and her husband Frank of Fitchburg, Mass., and Sharon-Holly Thibodeau and her husband Allen of Woolwich; four grandchildren Alisha, Cole, Thomas, and Anajewels; and many nephews and nieces; and her companion Dan Valliancourt and his daughter Leanae and her son Brice.
Cindy had many obstacles in her life. The one thing that she enjoyed the most in life was her family and the time she spent with them.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Morningside Cemetery, Parker Head Road, Phippsburg.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
