TOPSHAM — Cindy Jane Oconnor (Gray) passed away of medical complications at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick on Sept. 13, 2014. Cindy was born on April 19, 1957, in Bath, Maine, to Edward H. Gray and Beverly J. Gray. She graduated from Morse High School in Bath and graduated from the University of Maine in Augusta with an associate’s degree in behavioral health.

Cindy loved to work with developmentally disabled men and women. She helped open one of the first women’s group home in Richmond, Maine, in the late 1980s. She worked in this field for over a decade.

Throughout her life Cindy enjoyed being a cheerleading coach. She enjoyed going to basketball games watching Christa play. She enjoyed going for rides to the beach. She especially enjoyed being at Popham Beach spending time with her grandchildren and being with her family.

Cindy was predeceased by her mother and father.

Cindy is survived by her two daughters, Christa Gallagher of Brunswick and Missy Leeman and her fiancé Cong Van Nguyen of South Casco; two sisters, Vicki Harrington and her husband Frank of Fitchburg, Mass., and Sharon-Holly Thibodeau and her husband Allen of Woolwich; four grandchildren Alisha, Cole, Thomas, and Anajewels; and many nephews and nieces; and her companion Dan Valliancourt and his daughter Leanae and her son Brice.

Cindy had many obstacles in her life. The one thing that she enjoyed the most in life was her family and the time she spent with them.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Morningside Cemetery, Parker Head Road, Phippsburg.
