Ada’s first teaching job was at the one-room Growstown School in Brunswick, and she was the last living teacher to have taught at that school. She also taught kindergarten for many years at the original Jordan Acres School, also in Brunswick.
Ada married her high school beau, William R. Clemons on Aug. 25, 1940. They were married nearly 70 years. They resided in Brunswick and enjoyed summers at the family cottage on Stover’s Point in South Harpswell. Ada has been a resident of Piper Shores in Scarborough for the last several years.
Ada was predeceased by her husband and two brothers, Thomas and John. She is survived by a brother, Stanley Yates of Brunswick as well as her three children and their spouses, all of Harpswell: Anne and Lloyd Jones, William and Wanda Clemons, James and Kathleen Clemons. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
