BETHEL — Zach Groat went 4-for-4 at the plate, leading Smith-Tobey Post 21 to a 10-4 American Legion Zone III baseball victory over Bethel on Tuesday.
Groat doubled twice and drove in four runs to pace the Smith-Tobey (2-1) offense, which finished with 15 hits. Liam McDonough, Torrey Charnock, Joey Van Note and Wade Hunt each had two hits.
On the mound, Trent Moore, Reid Drouin, Nick Karkos, Aaron Barrett and Charnock pitched for the victors, combining on three hits, five strikeouts and 13 walks.
Izaak Mills and Dan Whitney handled the pitching for 1-2 Bethel, combining on five strikeouts and two walks. Whitney doubled, and Mills and Jeb Clarke each singled.
Smith-Tobey takes on Pastime of Lewiston today at 5:30 p.m. The game will be played at Lewiston High School.
