WEST BATH
The Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department handled two crashes during the weekend along Route 1 in West Bath.
The first was reported at 11:38 p.m. on Saturday. A 1999 Honda Accord driven by 19- year-old Megan Ridley of 187 Pleasant St., Richmond, was driving south on Route 1 when she reportedly hydroplaned in torrential rain and struck a guardrail, causing approximately $2,000 to the vehicle, according to Lt. Calvin Temple. He did not know if Ridley was injured.
A second single-vehicle crash was reported Sunday at 8:41 a.m. Temple said 61-yearold David Appell of 24 Skyline Drive, Saco, lost control of the vehicle he was driving near the old rest area along Route 1, went off to the right side of the highway and struck the cement base of a highway sign. This caused the vehicle to sustain significant damage.
A Bath Rescue ambulance took Appell to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesperson. The vehicle was totaled and towed away.
