FREEPORT — The Freeport High School softball team pounded out 11 hits in a 14-0 Western Maine Conference victory over York on Wednesday.

Danielle Perry and Leigh Wyman each went 3-for-4 at the plate. Wyman doubled and Andrea Grant tripled for the Falcons, who are 1-1 and slated to visit Falmouth on Friday (4 p.m.).

On the mound, Wyman tossed a one-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Carly Johnson pitched for York (0-3).

The host Wolverines were one out away from securing a win over highly-regarded Telstar in Mountain Valley Conference action.

However, the Rebels rallied for three seventh-inning runs for the win.

Wiscasset, 1-1 and slated to visit Mt. Abram on Friday, received a solid effort from pitcher Megan Corson, who allowed just two hits, struck out three, walked four and hit two batters.

Bri Goud and Hannah Campbell each doubled for Wiscasset, while Heidi Pinkham, Corson, Kayla Gordon, Mckenzie Chancellor, Charlene Reed and Carolyn Footer each singled. Footer’s RBI single in the sixth inning gave the Wolverines a 4-3 lead.

Kallie Brown and Savanna Patenaude each singled for 1-0 Telstar.

At South China, Brunswick (1-3) managed just three hits against hard-throwing Eagles hurler Ashley Green in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference loss.

Rachel Moroney, Jena Libby and Mel Bryant each singled, while on the mound Dragon pitchers Ashley Howe and KK Teel pitched, combining to allow 10 hits.

Leah Andreotti, Bryant, Hilda Nixon and Kensley Richardson played well for Brunswick, which hosts Edward Little on Friday at 4 p.m.

LISBON 3

On Wednesday, the host Greyhounds won in their season debut against the Cougars at Lisbon Falls.

Kimber Morse struck out two, walked five and permitted just two hits to pick up the mound win for Lisbon, 1-0 and slated to visit Spruce Mountain on Friday (4:30 p.m.) and host St. Dom’s on Saturday (10 a.m.).

Olivia Harrington had a single, sacrifice bunt and run scored, Brooke Lawrence a single, double and an RBI, Kaylin Hill a double, Bailey Madore an RBI and one run scored, and Haley Eck a single and run for the victors.

Dirigo pitcher Alyssa Wade had two strikeouts and a walk, while giving up six hits. Mariah Larsen had a double and a run scored, and Alyssa Charity a double, walk and RBI.

MT. ARARAT 0
CONY 8

Three Cony hurlers limited Mt. Ararat to just two hits in KVAC action on Wednesday.

The Eagles fell to 1-2 and are scheduled to host Lewiston on Friday.

Nicole Rugan belted a tworun home run for the Rams and Alyssah Dennett had two singles and a double.

Arika Brochu, Emily Soule and Sonja Morse combined to allow just two hits for the Rams (3-0) with 10 strikeouts and no walks. They allowed only a double each to Micaela Mitchell and Kim Leslie.

Leslie also did the pitching with a strikeout and two walks.

GARDINER 10 MORSE 4

Visiting Gardiner darted out to a 6-0 lead and held off a Shipbuilder rally in a KVAC win at Bath.

Morgan Carver singled three times for the 2-0 Tigers, while Brittany Rollins and Stephanie Plourde each doubled and singled as Gardiner pounded out 12 hits.

Two Gardiner pitchers combined on six strikeouts and four walks.

For Morse, 0-3 and slated to host Maranacook on Friday (4:15 p.m.), Megan Hixon struck out four and walked five on the mound, and Nichole Laggan had four of the 10 hits for the Shipbuilders.

Kate Dube singled twice, and Katie Henrikson, Hixon, Brianna Bigelow and Lucy Rawson each singled. Morse left 14 runners on base.
