BRUNSWICK — Mary (George) Leeman, 84, spent her last few days of life peacefully within the warm embrace of her family. She passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014.

Born on April 7, 1930, she was the beloved daughter of Julia and Frank George of Cambridge, MA, oldest sister of Frank, Louis, Theresa, Julia, Richard, Joseph and Paula. Cherished mother to Paul, Donna, and Richard, loving grandmother to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary found great joy in her work and with her colleagues at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She retired in 1992.

Mary left her mark on the world by demonstrating to her family great strength, love and self reliance as she raised her children and helped raise two of her beloved grandchildren Kaylee and Jessica. She was fiercely devoted to providing for her own children during the 1950s and the turbulence of the 1960s; she gave them a clean, disciplined, loving and bountiful home. When her sons joined the Army, she was so proud to learn that she was stricter than the drill instructors!

She came to Maine in 2006 and loved when her family would come visit, always making her famous pasta fagioli, with plenty for them to take home.

She maintained her independence until the end and took care of herself with the help of her loving daughter, Donna, daughter-in-law Cindy and the warm company of Sammie, the golden retriever. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and generosity for her children and grandchildren to emulate.

Mary’s sincerity was a reflection of the kindness in her heart. She had the warmest of hugs, homemade meals, moral support and sense of humor. Mary had a heart of gold.

Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick. Please visit www.brackettfuneralhome.c om to share a message of condolence with the Leeman family.
