PORTLAND (AP) — The U.S. Census Bureau says Maine’s largest county is also the fastest-growing part of the state.
The Census released data about Maine population growth on Thursday. The data covers July 1, 2014, to July 1, 2015.
Cumberland County’s population rose 0.7 percent in that time. Cumberland is home to Maine’s largest city, Portland, and the county added 2,102 people during the timeframe. Cumberland has 289,977 residents.
York and Waldo counties were second at 0.3 percent each. York, the secondlargest county in the state, added more people at 561.
