BRUNSWICK — Paul A. Adams Sr., 85, passed away on Saturday February 20th at the Bodwell House in Brunswick, Maine. Born in Stockbridge, Vermont on September 25th, 1930, he was the son of Arthur Nathan Adams and Mary Adams.

Paul grew up in Brunswick, Maine and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1948. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and served for 23 years. During his career he proudly served in the Korean War with distinction and was stationed in a host of other locations from Montana to Spain. Paul retired in 1971 while stationed at Eglin AFB in Florida.

After retiring from the USAF, Paul returned to Brunswick where he joined his father at Brunswick Motors, a family business that also employed his brother-in-law Walter Butcher and Paul’s son Gary. He worked there until retiring in 1977.

Paul found love twice in his life. His first wife, Jean Elizabeth, predeceased Paul in 1971 in Niceville, Florida after 20 happy years of marriage. His second wife, Joyce Williams, also predeceased him in 2013 in Brunswick, Maine. They were happily married for 39 years.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Adams and his sister Doris Butcher.

Paul was a Master Mason for most of his adult life and was a member of the York Rite, the Scottish Rite and most of the appending bodies. His involvement included P.P of Hawthorn Chapter 104 of Bowdoinham, Electra Chapter 2 of Eastern Star of Bath, Joshua Chamberlain Mount Vernon Council No. 2, Major General Henry Knox Lodge AF & AM in Massachusetts, United Lodge No. 8, F & AM of Brunswick and Dunlap Commandery No. 5 of Bath. In addition, Paul was also an active member of the Kora Shriners, the American Legion Post 20 and attended the United Methodist Church in Brunswick.

Paul is survived by his daughter Debbie Williams of Brunswick, Maine, his younger son Gary and his wife Carol of Georgetown, and his elder son Paul, Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida. His grandchildren Dayna Marie Adams, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Corey Scarponi of Bath, and Keaton Scarponi of Washington, Maine also survive him.

The family will receive family and friends during a viewing to be held at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, Maine (207-725-5511) on Thursday February 25th from 4-7 including a Masonic Service at 6:30. A memorial service will be held at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, Maine (207-725-5511) Friday February 26th at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow the memorial service at 11:30 AM at the United Lodge 8 at 65 Baribeau Drive, Brunswick, ME (207-725- 5371).
