TOPSHAM — Merrymeeting Adult Education is introducing a new, free course this semester which will equip the participant with the necessary skills to become a substitute teacher. MSAD 75 teachers Leslie Lemieux and Annie Young will be providing training to enrollees on how to effectively manage a classroom as well as the importance of familiarity and communication within the school. Also included will be review of the basic structures of the academic portions of a school day. To work as a substitute teacher in the state of Maine you must have 60 college credits and obtain a Criminal History Record Check through the Department of Education.
