BRUNSWICK — Three members of Bowdoin’s 2013 women’s soccer team received All-Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Sophomore Kiersten Turner was named as a First Team selection, while seniors Becky Stoneman and Molly Popolizio tabbed Third Team honors.

Stoneman, a co-captain for the Polar Bears this season, started all 17 games in the backfield for Bowdoin, anchoring a unit that permitted just 20 goals in 17 contests. She also pitched in offensively with a goal and two assists on the year.

Turner was one of the top offensive forces in the league and earned her first All- NESCAC selection after leading the league in goals (11) and points (26). Turner netted six game-winning goals and has recorded 18 goals and six assists over her first two seasons as a Polar Bear.

Popolizio scored five goals and added a pair of assists for the Polar Bears, and has scored 13 goals with 11 assists in 66 career games. The senior co-captain’s final goal of her Bowdoin career came in the 71st minute of the Polar Bears’ 3-1 win against Christopher Newport.

The Polar Bears ended their season 12-4-1, reaching a dozen wins for only the second time since 2003. The team advanced to the NCAA Second Round for the second straight year and earned the program’s first tournament win since 1999.
