BOWDOIN — Priscilla M. Slipp of Bowdoin, ME and Zephyrhills, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at the age of 96, but “forever young.” Priscilla was born on October 10, 1921, to Leon C. and Alice (Pettengill) Maybury in Freeport, ME.
“Mae” had a very full life in many ways with a wide variety of interests. Her love of nursing and especially surgical medicine was exemplary. She attained high respect from all whom she worked with at several hospitals from northern Maine to southern Maine. She and Garth were able to do extensive traveling including her favorite trips to Hawaii. They also enjoyed many years living on Sebec Lake, where she was an avid sportswoman enjoying snowmobiling and fishing. She also was able to travel to Ireland with two daughters and Alaska with another daughter.
Her interests were widely diverse, making beautiful quilts for all in the family, and gorgeous needlework. “Mae” was often seen at Celtic music concerts. Her love for the music stems from her Dad’s fiddle playing during her childhood. She was an avid reader and very competitive in shuffleboard and cards, especially cribbage. She loved the political scene and our many conversations around the table. She had the wonderful opportunity of living in Zephyrhills, FL winters which she thoroughly enjoyed and made so many friends in Gem Estates. She also enjoyed the friendships she found with the Freeport
Elders, creating many things for them to sell in their store.
She is survived by Cheryl Smith of Durham, ME; Sandy Mann and husband Ken Mann of Freeport, ME and Zephyrhills, FL; Brent Slipp of Zephyrhills, FL; and Val Mann and husband John Mann of Bowdoin, ME, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Garth L. Slipp, a sister Verna W. Noble, a brother William A. Maybury and a grandson, Marc A. Smith.
A Celebration of Priscilla’s Life will be held at Crosman Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Lisbon Falls, ME on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
