WATERVILLE — The Mt. Ararat Middle School “A” field hockey team participated in the Hocktoberfest 7 vs. 7 Tournament at Thomas College on Sunday.

The Eagles placed second overall in the eighth-grade division, which included 14 teams from all over the state. The Eagles scored 17 goals on the day and only allowed six.

In “A” pool play, Mt. Ararat was 5-1, beating out Skowhegan for first place.

In the semifinals the Eagles defeated “B” pool second-place finisher Lawrence, but then lost, 2-0, in the championship game to “B” winner Warsaw of Pittsfield.

Mt. Ararat defeated Skowhegan, 2-0, in the opener behind a goal each from Paige Witwicki and Jazzy Huntsman, with an assist going to Belle Hemond.

After a 3-0 loss to Nokomis, the Eagles rolled to a 3-0 win over host Waterville. Huntsman had a pair of goals, with Lily Koslosky adding one, and assist each picked up by Ella Davies, Witwicki and Audrey Marchildon. A 2-0 win over Gorham followed (Witwicki and Huntsman a goal, Davies two assists), and a 5-0 victory Old Town (Koslosky two goals, one goal each for Huntsman, Greta Marchildon, Witwicki; two assists for Witwicki and one each for Greta Marchildon, Audrey Marchildon and Huntsman).

Mt. Ararat finished pool play with a 2-0 win over Cony behind a goal each from Huntsman and Paige Gagne. Greta Marchildon and Huntsman added an assist each.

Against Lawrence in the semifinals, Greta Marchildon had a pair of goals, while Huntsman picked up one in a 3-1 victory. Megan Reed, Greta Marchildon and Audrey Marchildon earned an assist each.
