John E. York, 56, surrounded by loving family members, passed away on Aug. 10, 2017, at his home in Lisbon Falls after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Brunswick on Dec. 13, 1960, to James E. York I and Carol (Oliver) York, was raised in Phippsburg and graduated from Morse High School in Bath. John served in the Army National Guard and worked as a carpenter for more than 30 years.

John will be remembered as a kind, gentle and loving man who enjoyed camp and fishing, loved the visits from his grandchildren and his devoted dog Harley.

John was predeceased by his parents and grandparents.

He is survived by his wife and the love of his life Anita (Ericson) York; three children, Edward Tomko of Virginia Beach, Shana Ferrara and her husband Mike of Phippsburg and Erica (Tomko) Greenwell and her husband Addison of Melbourne, Florida; his three grandchildren, Latham Tomko and Brynn and Avery Ferrara. John had two siblings, his twin brother James E. York Sr. and wife Melissa of Phippsburg and sister Dorothy Chubbuck and husband Brian of Lisbon Falls; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Favreau and husband Jim, Rosemary Murphy and husband Joe, Kerstin Palmer and husband Nelson; brothers-in-law, Robert E. Ericson Jr. and wife Becca and Thomas D. Ericson. John is also survived by his mother-in-law, Patricia (Ericson) Fortin and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at Brackett Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. at Growstown Cemetery on Church Road in Brunswick.
